Famus ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Famus mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

By using Famus, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

Account Information:

• Email address
• Username and display name
• Profile picture
• Bio and profile description
• Date of birth (for age verification)

Content You Create:

• Live streams and recordings
• Chat messages
• Comments and reactions
• Profile customizations

Payment Information:

• When you make purchases, payment processing is handled by Stripe
• We do not store your full credit card numbers
• We retain transaction records for accounting purposes

• Operating system version
• Unique device identifiers

• Streams watched and duration
• Features used

How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

1. Provide the Service - Create and manage your account, process transactions and tips, enable live streaming and chat features, connect you with other users
2. Improve the Service - Analyze usage patterns, fix bugs and optimize performance, develop new features
3. Communicate With You - Send notifications about streams you follow, provide customer support, send important service updates
4. Ensure Safety - Enforce our Terms of Service, prevent fraud and abuse, moderate content

Information Sharing

We may share information in the following circumstances:

Service Providers

We work with third-party companies to operate our Service:

• Firebase (Google) - Authentication, database, analytics
• Stripe - Payment processing
• Cloudflare - Video streaming infrastructure
• Google Cloud Translation - Chat message translation (opt-in; see below)
• Stability AI - AI emote image generation (opt-in; see below)

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.

Chat Translation (Google Cloud Translation)

Famus offers an optional chat translation feature for Elite members. When chat translation is enabled:

• The text of chat messages from other viewers is sent to Google Cloud Translation for processing, so it can be rendered in your preferred language.
• Translated results are stored in our database (per message, per language) to reduce repeat lookups and cost.
• When you send a chat message, your message may be translated for viewers in other languages who have translation enabled — only if you have explicitly allowed this on first chat use.

Your controls:

• As a recipient: Translation is off until you tap "Continue with Google" in the in-app consent dialog (Settings → Chat → Auto-translate). You can turn it off again at any time in the same place.
• As a sender: When you first open any chat surface, Famus shows a disclosure dialog explaining this flow. You can opt your messages out by tapping "Don't translate my messages" in that dialog, or later via Settings → Privacy → Allow message translation. Opting out prevents your future messages from being sent to Google Cloud Translation at all.

This feature is disabled by default for both senders and recipients. No chat message text is sent to Google Cloud Translation without your explicit consent.

AI Emote Generation (Stability AI)

Famus offers an opt-in feature that lets creators generate custom emotes from a text prompt. When you tap the "Create Emote" pill on your profile and accept the first-use disclosure dialog:

• The text of your prompt is sent to Stability AI for image generation.
• If you attach an optional reference image, that image is also sent to Stability AI for the generation.
• The generated PNG is returned to Famus, watermarked with C2PA Content Credentials (an industry-standard provenance signature), and stored in your Famus submission record alongside the prompt, model name and version, generation seed, and a timestamp.
• Submissions enter a moderation pipeline (auto-approve heuristic plus human review for edge cases) before they become available as channel emotes.

Your controls:

• Before any data is sent to Stability AI, Famus shows you a blocking first-use disclosure dialog that names the provider and lists exactly what data is shared. You must tap "Accept & continue" to opt in. Tapping "Not now" closes the dialog without sending anything.
• You are responsible for the content of your prompts. Prompts that match Famus's protected-terms list are rejected client-side before generation; prompts that match the flagged-terms list are still generated but bypass the auto-approve heuristic and go straight to human review.
• Rate limits apply: the first 10 generations per creator are free of the hourly cap; after that, the limit is 30 generations per hour.
• If you delete your Famus account, your submission records and any reference images you uploaded are removed along with the rest of your account data.

This feature is disabled by default; no prompt or image is sent to Stability AI without your explicit consent on the first-use dialog. Famus does not train AI models on your prompts or reference images; data is sent to Stability AI only for the single generation you request.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, such as court orders, government requests, or protection of our legal rights.

Business Transfers

If Famus is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before this occurs.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

Your Rights and Choices

Access and Portability

You can request a copy of your data by contacting us.

Correction

You can update your profile information in the app settings.

Deletion

You can delete your account through the app or by contacting us. This will remove your profile and content, delete your chat history, and anonymize your transaction records.

Opt-Out

You can opt out of push notifications (device settings), marketing emails (unsubscribe link), and analytics (contact us).

California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights: right to know what data we collect, right to delete personal information, right to opt-out of sale (we don't sell data), and right to non-discrimination.

European Residents (GDPR)

EU residents have additional rights: right to access, right to rectification, right to erasure, right to restrict processing, right to data portability, and right to object.

Children's Privacy

Famus is not intended for users under 17 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 17. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 17, we will delete it promptly.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

• Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure authentication
• Regular security assessments
• Access controls for employees
• Incident response procedures

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on our website, sending an email notification, or displaying a notice in the app.

Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
